Our relationship with God
-
A Christian is a follower of Christ. A Christian has a growing relationship with Christ, tries to obey Him in all things and draws on His strength for help in difficult times.
God made us for Himself and our souls are restless until we find rest in Him. Therefore, only God can fill the void in your life. The answer to your search is to accept Jesus Christ as the Lord of your life.
-
First, God loves. you. Because of God’s love for all people, He wants to have unbroken fellowship with you.
( John 3:16; Ephesians 2:4-5)
Second, you are a sinner. All people are sinners in that they disobey God. Sin is choosing to go your own way and doing your own thing instead of being obedient to God.
( Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:10 )
Third, sin seperates you from God. Sin is a barrier that prevents you from being in unbroken fellowship with God.
(Isaiah 59:2; Romans 3:23 )
-
YOU CAN’T SAVE YOURSELF.
People often think that if they live a good life and do good things they can overcome the barrier of sin between themselves and God. There is nothing you can do on your own that can restore the broken relationship with God. You can’t earn salvation. ( Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5; Romans 4:4-5 )
GOD SENT HIS SON, JESUS CHRIST, TO REMOVE THE SIN BARRIER.
When Jesus Christ, God’s son, died on the cross He removed the sin barrier between you and God. Jesus died for your sins, taking punishment on Himself. God did for you in Jesus Christ, what you could not do for yourself. ( 1 Peter 2:24; Romans 5:8; 2 Corinthians 5:21 )
YOU CAN RECEIVE JESUS CHRIST THROUGH FAITH.
Faith is trusting in what Jesus has done for you instead of trusting your own efforts to restore fellowship with God. Therefore, faith requires genuine sorrow for your sin and a willingness to turn away from sin.
(John 14:6; Acts 16:31; Romans 10;9-10)
THROUGH PRAYER YOU CAN LEARN TO TRUST IN JESUS CHRIST.
First, confess to God that you are a sinner. Second, express sorrow for your sinfulness. Then, ask Him to forgive your sins. Invite Jesus into your life as Savior and Lord. Thank Him for entering into your life. Commit yourself to live for Him.
Accepting Christ is the beginning. The next step is to join a community of believers. We invite you to join with us on your Christian journey. At FBC you will find support and encouragement in your decision to follow Christ.
Our Beliefs
-
We believe in God, the creator of all things, who sent His son Jesus to die for our sins. Jesus died on the cross, rose to life on the 3rd day, and ascended to heaven. God is still among us, the Holy Spirit is always with us.
-
We believe Church should be a place for creativity, hope, encouragement, love, kindness, forgiveness, and community.
We believe you belong here.
-
Worship is a time we can gather, learn about God and glorify Him. Worship is completely about God, we are the actors and He is the audience.
-
We give our finances to support what God is doing through the local church. We give our time and abilities because God made us with unique talents.
-
Missions is both at home and around the globe. We are to take care of our family, our friends, our neighbors, strangers, and all people around the world.
-
We believe discipleship is important for personal growth. Learning about the Bible and God in a small group setting helps give space for conversation, questions, and coaching.
-
We pray because we believe God listens to us. We are His children, and we believe he wants to hear from us. We pray because He wants us to ask Him for help, to cry to Him in pain, and to shout to Him in joy.
-
We love people, all people. We believe in helping the poor, being a voice for the voiceless, and an advocate for those for feel ‘lesser-than’.
