1st Time Visit
What can you expect for your first time visit? At First Baptist, we have something for everyone. We would love for you to come and be a part of our church family. If you are single or married, old or young, a family of one or a family of twenty-one, you are welcome here.
Below you will find a list of frequently asked questions. If you have a question that is not addressed, we encourage you to contact us!
I have never been to a Worship Service. How will I know what to do?
If you come to Awakening Worship, this is a very casual service. We’ll tell you what’s happening as we go so you’ll know what to do.
When you arrive for our 11:00 Worship Service, you will receive a sheet of paper called a bulletin. This tells you everything that’s going to happen. If you follow along in your bulletin, you’ll know what to do.
You have a big building. Where should I park and how do I get in?
If you are coming to our Awakening Worship Service, you will park in the back parking lot on the corner of Davis and Mebane Streets. You can enter the building under the covered entrance. Once you enter, someone will be there to greet you.
If you are coming to our 11:00 Worship Service, the best place to park is in our side parking lot located on the corner of Broad Street and Maple Ave. You can enter the building under the covered entrance. Once you enter, someone will be there to help you.
I would like to visit First Baptist, Burlington. What should I do?
Visiting one of our Sunday morning worship services is a great place to start. We have two different services.
Awakening Worship is our first service. It begins at 9:00 a.m. and takes place in our Worship Center. This is a modern, casual service with contemporary music.
At 11:00 a.m. we have a traditional service in our Sanctuary. This service is more formal, and features a wide variety of music.
When you arrive for your visit our greeters will welcome you and help you find a seat. You will also receive a warm welcome from our members. If you will let us know when you are planning to visit, we will have a host waiting for you when you arrive.
I would like to bring my children. Is child care provided?
Yes. For most of our events, child care is provided for preschool age children. The people who work with our children are kind and friendly. They help with child care because they have a love for children and families.
What do people wear?
Our Awakening Worship service is very causal. Come as you are. If you are coming to our 11:00 traditional service, you will find a wide range of dress. Men wear anything from suits and ties to knit shirts. Women wear everything from dresses and skirts to slacks. If you are coming on a Wednesday evening, most people are coming from work or school and they come as they are. We are much more interested in getting to know you than we are in what you are wearing. Come as you are anytime and you will be welcomed.
