Community Missions

An important part of what we do at First Baptist is tied to our community. We want to help the people around us. If you would like to volunteer, check out these programs.

Community School Involvement

At FBC we are always working to serve our community. Partnering with schools is a great place to start!

  • Backpack Buddies - This program provides back packs filled with easy to prepare food for elementary school children to have over the weekend when school lunches are not available.
  • Student Mentoring - We read and work with students to help them succeed.
  • Local Teacher Support - Each year we have a school supply drive to help supply teachers with the tools they need.
  • Hosting local school athletic teams - Sports are an important part of community outreach. We help with food, printed materials, and team support. Our Awakening at FBC Football Camp, this past summer, was a big hit!
  • Partner with school social workers for emergency family support - Often, when a child has an urgent need, we partner with school social workers to provide what is needed.

Resource Agencies

At FBC we have partnered with lots of local agencies to support the work they do for our community. Here are just a few.

  • Allied Churches of Alamance County
  • Church under the Bridge, Greensboro
  • United Way
  • My Sisters House
  • SAFE
  • SoleHope
  • Alamance/Orange Prison Ministry
  • Teen Challenge
  • Christian Women’s Job Corps
  • Meals on Wheels

Ways you can partner with FBC to help our community:

These are a few of the ongoing FBC groups that work to serve those around us. If you are looking for a place to volunteer, check out one of these groups.

  • Knit Wits - This is short for Knitting Witnesses. They knit baby caps and prayer shawls for people who need them.
  • Agape Women - This group focuses on community, national, and international missions.
  • Men on Missions - If you need a handicap accessible ramp for your home, these are the guys to see! They do great work!
  • Benevolence Fund - This is a fund we take up regularly to help those in need.
  • Elon International Students - Our International students are a long way from home! We work to make them feel at home in Burlington. We host events for them and help returning students with storage needs each summer.
  • Backpack Buddies - This program provides back packs filled with easy to prepare food for elementary school children to have over the weekend when school lunches are not available.
